What does Michaelis believe caused Myrtle to run?
Why did she run?

When Michaelis sees Myrtle get hit by a car, he doesn't think anything of it. The reason that he thinks Myrtle went running out is because she wanted to get away from her husband who had locked her up. What he failed to realize is that Myrtle had been waiting for the yellow car to go by again so that she could speak to Tom.

Michaelis believes that Myrtle is running away from her husband, George, and trying to escape him. He really doesn't realize the truth; Myrtle was really waiting for Tom to pass by again so she could talk to him.

I agree with both Kristeena and Janique. Like Kristeena mentioned Michaelis doesn’t think anything of the accident. One can see this because Michaelis wasn’t even sure about the car color telling the first policeman it was light green. Also when some workmen came past the door bound for his restaurant, Michaelis took the opportunity to get away, intending to come back later which he didn’t. This shows that Michaelis was indifferent.
The reason that Mrs. Wilson (Myrtle) seemed to have ran away was to get away from her husband as Janique and Kristeena both mentioned. Myrtle had cried ‘Throw me down and beat me, you dirty little coward’ to Wilson as she ran out to the road.

I agree with Kristeena and Janique. Myrtle was trying to stop the car hoping it was Tom and Michaelis thought she was running from her husband and ended up getting hit by the car. I don’t understand though what Hyun Ah means by Michaelis being indifferent about it. He was there because he saw the accident but I do believe he cared about what had happened to Myrtle. I think he stayed with Wilson like a good neighbor should but the whole situation made him uncomfortable and when he went to his restaurant to get away it was because he needed a break from taking care of Mr. Wilson. I do not believe Michaelis was indifferent to the tragedy he had seen happen in front of his eyes he just didn’t know how to handle Wilson’s behavior.

Before Myrtle gets killed, Michaelis finds out that Wilson has Myrtle locked up. Therefore, I think Michaelis believes that she was running away from Wilson. Michaelis assumed that because she had been locked up, she was escaping; however, he doesn’t know the complete story. Yes, Myrtle was running away from Wilson. Because in that same day Myrtle saw Tom in the yellow car, that afternoon when she saw it again she ran towards the yellow car to see Tom. I think she was expecting to run away with Tom.

I agree with everyone, except Maria. Michaelis saw the whole thing and thought that Myrtle was running from Mr. Wilson who had her abruptly locked up. Meanwhile, Myrtles true intention was to speak to Tom. I think it was foolish on her part because it is difficult to get run over by car, and I doubt that Daisy was such a bad driver to not have seen her. Michaelis didn't think about it and ignored the fact that she wanted to talk to her lover. I think he didn't care enough to take care of his neighbor, because he ran away and didn't pay attention of who killed Myrtle.

Michaelis belives that Myrtle was trying to stop the car that was comming. Myrtle belived that it was Tom comming the yellow car, as she had seen him comming before, but soon realized that the person in the car, was not tom at all. She thought it was Tom because earlier he had driven it, but now it was Daisy driving, and whether or not she killed her on purpose, i
