What Gatsby had turned Daisy in his mind was something way different from what she really was. To him, she was someone perfect who would be able to reconcile his defects, always willing to go for Gatsby. This is the opposite from what she really was; a shallow person. See, Daisy seemed perfect n Gatsby's mind always happy and nice but in reality she was married to Tom out of wealth not out of love which doesn’t seem to match quite with Gatsby's expectations.

Gatsby had turned Daisy into a perfect being with no negative sides. the Daisy in Gatsby's mind was rather an imaginary being, almost a goddess, like Kristeena said in another post. Also, Gatsby thought Daisy would not have changed since they last saw each other. Full of expectations, Gatsby invites Daisy to his party. However, the Daisy in his mind was long dead after he left her.

Gatsby loved Daisy ever so much that she had become like a goddess to him. She was the perfect being that every guy dreamed of. For Gatsby she was still a single beautiful lady who was going to marry him someday. Gatsby who was so deep in his fantasies that when he had to confront the reality, he did not know what to do. He also thought that love was stronger than money but apparently for Daisy it was not.

I agree with everyone, Gatsby really pictured Daisy as the same woman he had met years back. He still pictured her as his soul mate, he adored her and believed he would never stop. In his mind she was the one, the perfect girl, there was no one better. Gatsby got lost with reality and started believing what he dreamed of was real. That is why he is so dissapointed when he realized Daisy was nothing like he imagined for so long.

I agree with everyone that Gatsby turned Daisy in his mind to someone perfect. Gatsby says to Nick at one point in the book that he was surprised to find out that he loved Daisy. To Gatsby, Daisy was his dream and hope. He had searched for love all along and later finds his dream to be unattainable. To Gatsby Daisy seems to be perfect while in reality like Min Jae said, she chose wealth over love.

Gatsby had transformed the real Daisy into the opposite women she really was. Daisy only fancies money, new clothes, high status people, and luxury. Meanwhile, Gatsby sees her flawless, forgiving, caring, loving, and practically without anything she is in reality. He thought that she was true to her word and she would wait for Gatsby and be with him once again. But she only accomplished to marry a guy for his money and high social level. Therefore, Gatsby only idolized a woman who he thought was Daisy, but truly it was a non existent woman.
