What Daisy impressed with Gatsby? Does she love him? Why or why not?

When Gatsby showed Daisy his house she was deeply impressed by what he had achieved. Since Daisy met Gatsby as a poor young man at a Camp, she didn’t ever think that he would succeed as he has now. The house, being the biggest and most extravagant in West Egg shows Daisy that Gatsby is able to make her feel secure in a way. But the reason why he showed Daisy his expensive shirts was to show her that he had really gone above from what he was, that he was willing to spend his money on her every wishes she had. The clothes in a way represented his greatness from his simple old ways that he was when he was young.

I totally agree with minjae's comment. Daisy was surely impressed by Gatsby. Gatsby had become a totally different man and even the richest man in West Egg. She would have never imagined Gatsby having the biggest parties when they were younger. I think that Daisy could have felt a bit of regret for leaving Gatsby. I think the shirts also show Daisy that Gatsby has become an acceptable person in her luxurious society.

Daisy was definitely impressed by Gatsby's new life. I think she was somewhat doubtful though. I think she loved him in a way that was not the same as the first time she met him, when he was a soldier. If Daisy really loved him then how come she didn't go with him. When Tom, Gatsby, and Daisy are bickering, Daisy tells Gatsby that she did love Tom once. I think that Daisy is just plain confused and that she should have made up her mind and not cause so many broken- hearts.

Daisy was very impressed with Gatsby’s house and especially his clothes. Daisy started crying as Gatsby showed his clothes to her. As Daisy was in Gatsby’s house, Gatsby felt a doubt. He was bewildered by his present happiness at that time. I think that Daisy does love Gatsby; however she feels a sense of obligation to Tom and to their past as Gatsby was at war.

Daisy was impressed with Gatsby after he saw his material possessions, but notice the way she reacted before seeing all his riches. When she first met with Gatsby, in Nick's house, she was mesmerized. She cried when she saw him, and I might have said that she did love him right after reading this scene, for it appeared she didn't care about where they were or about what they had, she only cared about him again; of the possibilities; the doors he had opened as he sat there in front of her; of everything that had become of her, and him. But as she saw all that Gatsby had become, she is completely awestruck, and then, when she sees his clothes and begins to cry, the whole prospect of her actually loving Gatsby shatters.
She holds the essence of selfishness. She wanted Gatsby to get away from the humdrum life she had fallen into with Tom. To her, Gatsby is nothing more than an escape, that adventure that her life was missing. She saw him as the perfect accessory.

Daisy was really impressed with Gatsby's achievements. When she sees Gatsby's house and clothes, readers can notice that Daisy is really amazed. I think Daisy didn't fall in love with Gatsby right away, but after some days of meeting. It seems that Daisy does love Gatsby by the way she sometimes protects him from Tom, but by the way Daisy responded to Gatsby and Tom in their argument in chapter VII made me realized that Daisy does have a feeling toward Gatsby until she was more impressed by the way Tom was fighting for her and chose Tom.

Daisy is impressed with the magnitude of Gatsby’s success and power. I believe that she is just in love with the idea that Gatsby has so much wealth and can now support her and bend to all her wishes because of his wealth and influential power. I don’t think she is truly in love with Gatsby; she’s just one of the “Eastern Eggers” who are attracted to all things money.

Daisy is impressed because Gatsby went from being a man in the army with hardly a penny to his name, to a big shot millionare playboy, in a matter of speaking. I think Daisy does and always has loved Gatsby. I think Daisy never stopped loving Gatsby but only married Tom because she was afraid of being alone.

Daisy is very impressed with what Gatsby has become. She loves the fact that he has so much now that she doesn’t think about where it has all come from, later when Tom points out that Gatsby’s trade isn’t completely honest she begins to have doubts about leaving Tom. Obviously Daisy loved Gatsby once and still had feelings for him now but what overpowers that is her feeling for his wealth and luxurious life. Daisy cries when she sees Gatsby’s clothes because she is thinking why couldn’t he have had all this when they were younger before she married Tom. I believe she is more in love with his new possessions and wealth than with Gatsby himself yet she has also fallen in love with Tom and his wealth over the years.
