The first time Nick meets Jordan is when he goes to eat at Tom and Daisy's. The first impression of her is that she is a high class pretty lady. Later you find out that she isn't like every other girl because she is pursuing an athletic career. After Nick realizes who Jordan is (the infamous golf player)he remembers a clipping about her in the newspaper. The clipping about Jordan describes her real personality; a dishonest, careless, cheating girl that lives in her richness. Even after realizing what Jordan was like, Nick still feels a sort of attraction to her. His attraction toward Jordan is more of a fantasy that he wishes he could have but he knows he won't because he's not the type of person that could live with someone so unthoughtful of others. The relationship between the two develops because they are constantly put together by similarities such as knowing the same people. Another reason this relationship was able to take off is because they both go to the same parties where the only people they really know are each other, forcing them to stick together in order to not feel lonely.

I think that Jordan and Nick’s relationship was just a “fling”. It all starts out when Nick goes to the Buchanan’s house and sees an etiquette lady, Jordan. They start meeting each other often and talk about many things. When Nick finds out that Jordan is an untrustworthy, careless, rich lady, he is not happy about it but still feels an attraction towards her. Through out the book, they always seem to encounter themselves at the same parties and even have the same group of friends. At the end, Nick leaves Jordan and takes care of more important things in his life. Nick at the same time feels relief not having to be with someone that he is not compatible with.

Nick and Jordan develop an attraction toward one another throughtout the book. Meeting at Tom and Daisy's house they don't really start things off right away. Nick belives that he has seen her somewhere but can't pin point where. He then realizes that he had seen her in a newspaper as a famous golfer that was suspected of some sort of cheating. He finds out that Jordan is a liar and manipulator but still he finds her appealing and thinks he is falling in love. They spend much time together but in the end things don't work out. They go their seperate ways, it wasn't meant to be and they knew it. They each had something they didn't like about each other and maybe that's why they wouldn't have stood being together forever.

The relationship between Jordan and Nick is just an attraction and not of love. The first time they meet is at Daisy’s house and later at one of Gatsby’s parties. Nick points out that he likes being with Jordan because people recognized her, as she is a golf champion. At one point in chapter Ⅲ Nick thinks he loves Jordan but finds out he only has a tender curiosity. The way Jordan seems to be concealing something to the world. Although Jordan seems to be incurably dishonest, and careless Nick stills feels an attraction. One may notice it was only an attraction because at the end of the book Nick feels he had enough of her.

Jordan and Nick's relationship develops throughout the book. At the beginning of the novel, Nick feels a strong attraction toward Jordan. In Chapter I, when Jordan is telling Nick about Tom's love affair, Nick describes her in a "romantic" way. "For a moment the last sunshine fell with romantic affection upon her glowing face; her voice compelled me forward breathlessly as I listened..." However, later in the novel, Nick notices that he was never in love with Jordan. He only liked the attention people gave her. For example, in chapter III, when two ladies in the party tell Jordan about being sorry she lost the golf tournament. Furthermore, Nick ends his relationship with Jordan. After two years, Nick finds out that Jordan is already engaged with another man which implies that Jordan was never in love with Nick if she got over him so quickly. So in conclusion, Jordan and Nick's relationship was not love, but a “transitional” attraction.
